“Raise” Remains a Shoegaze Landmark

Originally released in September 1991, Raise became one of the defining records of the shoegaze era and helped establish Swervedriver as one of the genre’s most respected bands.

The album blended swirling guitars, melodic hooks, and driving rock energy that separated the band from many of their contemporaries at the time.

Over the years, both Raise and its 1993 follow-up Mezcal Head have continued receiving praise from critics and longtime fans, especially within alternative rock and shoegaze circles.

The anniversary tour gives fans a rare opportunity to hear the full album performed live front-to-back more than three decades after its original release.
